How should I protect my Michigan Mapleworks and Michigan Wooden Spoon products?
Treat your wooden spoon or wood cutting board with food grade mineral oil. Just rub some on after washing it and let the oil soak in. You can do this every couple of weeks at first, then every couple of months depending on how often you use it. This will prevent the wood from drying out. After time, the wood will be more saturated with mineral oil and you can go longer between treatments.
Can I wash my wooden spoon or wood cutting board?
It is OK to wash off your wooden spoon or cutting board with water and mild dish soap. Once the item is washed off, rinse and towel dry. Do NOT let the wood product sit in water, especially soapy water. This will cause the wood to swell. We do NOT recommend putting our products in your automatic dish washer.
Will the color of my product change over time?
The beauty of wood is that it will darken over time. Cherry wood in particular will take on a noticeably darker and richer hue.

Who is Michigan Mapleworks?
In 2011 a husband and wife team took their love of woodworking, a bucket full of ideas and a handful of dreams, and dedicated themselves to a full time manufacturing business known as Michigan Mapleworks. When demands got too great for the duo, two Rider brothers came on board as woodworking partners and Rider Brothers LLC was born. Their previous careers and experiences in art, construction, finance, and corporate retail management all contribute to making Rider Brothers LLC the successful business it is today. The Rider's continue to sell and market their wood products under the Michigan Mapleworks™ and Michigan Wooden Spoon™ names.
What type of products does Rider Brothers LLC manufacture?
As Northern Michigan natives, our springboard products are end-grain chopping blocks made from locally sourced Northern Michigan hard maple. Next we extended our maple product line into traditional and uniquely shaped cutting boards. Then, utilizing another locally sourced product, Northern Michigan cherry wood, wooden spoons and utensils were added. These items are sold under our well known trademark names of Michigan Mapleworks™ and Michigan Wooden Spoon™.
In 2016 we began producing and selling a line of state shaped chalkboards, cork boards, and dry erase boards under the America WriteOn!™ name. Of course, the artist in us was not satisfied with producing just state shaped boards. Fish shaped boards have been added to the line, and we have a few more design ideas up our sleeve. Stay tuned and follow us on Facebook to learn about new releases.
How much time is spent on production of the Rider's products?
ALOT! Production and sales of our products is a full time job. As it is for most entrepreneurs, there is no time clock. If we are not in the shop producing product, we are filling orders, creating selling opportunities, arranging shows, or dreaming up new items to bring to our customers.
Where are products offered by Rider Brothers LLC manufactured?
Since the beginning, we have manufactured our products in the workshop on our Northern Michigan farm. We are proud to say that we continue to make our products one at a time, by hand, for that one of a kind quality piece.
Are other suppliers used in the making of Rider Brothers products?
The products sold by Rider Brothers LLC are manufactured at our workshop in Northern Michigan. However, there are many facets to any business. The Rider Brothers concentrate on what they do best and where possible work with other small, often family run, companies to assist in making the business operate more smoothly. A locally owned print shop is used for the printing of brochures and tags. Other local companies provide laser engraving, photography, and website design and maintenance.
